This class will teach the science and methodology of archaeology so that when students use a tool, such as a metal detector, they understand the importance of not removing or destroying key historical finds. Use of metal detectors will be a supplemental tool as students search for and learn about the history of Newaygo. This broad educational experience for participants will strengthen their grasp of the field of archaeology and of local history.
At the end of the class, participants will receive a certificate of participation.
This is an off-site class. We will meet at the library at 10:00 am and walk to the Dig Site on Water Street.
A Registration Packet is required to be filled out by both the student and parent and returned to the library to reserve your spot. Class is limited to 8 students. Sign up today!  An email packet can be sent if requested.  Send requests to events@newaygolibrary.org.
